The fully-electric SUV’s 7kW charger is now upgraded with a 11kW AC domestic wall box for faster charging capability; adds 53 km (33 miles) of range (WLTP) per hour with three-phase supplies.
Jaguar’s all-electric performance SUV – the I-Pace – is getting refreshed with a host of upgrades. Along with a slew of exterior and interior styling revisions, the 2021 model-year car will boast a new ‘Pivi Pro’ infotainment and connected features, along with an upgraded charging system for faster charging capability.
The new I-Pace will feature a 11kW on-board charger as standard, enabling users with access to three-phase power supplies to enjoy significantly faster charging. When connected to a 11kW wallbox charger, Jaguar claims that the system adds 53 kms (33 miles) of range (WLTP) per hour, resulting in full charge from empty taking just 8.6 hours. This makes the car ideal for overnight charging at home.
On the other hand, buyers using 7 kW wall boxes will also be reaping benefits of up to 35 kms (22 miles) of charge per hour from competitive charging capability, with a full charge taking 12.75 hours. The I-Pace is also rapid-charging enabled, which means users can charge their cars ‘on the go’ with 50kW rapid DC charger adding up to 63 kms (39 miles) and a 100kW rapid DC charger adding up to 127 kms (78 miles) in 15 minutes.
When charging in public places, the I-Pace’s charging cable locks into place as soon as the car is locked, and cannot be disconnected until the vehicle is unlocked, giving users the freedom to move around while the vehicle charges up safely. Jaguar recommended home charging systems are also smart-phone connected, thereby allowing users remotely monitor or deactivate the charging progress.
The Jaguar I-Pace can offer a driving range of up to 470 km (292 miles) on full charge. With a top speed of 200 kmph, the ‘performance SUV’ can hit 0-100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds. It is driven by two permanent magnet electric motors at each axle – making it an electric all wheel drive (AWD). The motors are paired to a synchronous single-speed epicyclic transmission, which helps the car to deliver up to 200 kW of power and 348 Nm of torque. The motors derive power from a 90 kWh Li-ion liquid-cooled battery pack. Jaguar offers a battery warranty of 8 year or 100,000 mile (160,000 km) to its customers.
