The journey of the XUV 3XO has always followed one rule: listen to customers and give them exactly what they want. Since the launch of its petrol and diesel models in April 2024, the 3XO quickly set a benchmark in the compact SUV segment, recording nearly 1.8 lakh sales. Buyers loved its premium features, its comfortable driving experience and its familiar, modern design.

From first-time buyers upgrading from motorcycles to families wanting a second or third car, and even “no-compromise” seekers wanting every feature in a compact package—the 3XO managed to speak to everyone.

But amid all the praise, one message stood out clearly. Customers wanted more powertrain choices—especially an electric one. That insight became the turning point for Mahindra.

The Birth of XUV 3XO EV

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has now expanded its electric portfolio with the launch of the XUV 3XO EV, priced from ₹13.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The new model is designed as the natural electric extension of the 3XO family, keeping everything familiar while adding the benefits of clean, powerful and practical electric mobility.

The electric 3XO stays true to the design language of its ICE sibling—confident on city roads, instantly recognisable, and premium inside. The cabin retains its modern, sophisticated ambience with a sharp focus on everyday usability. Mahindra says the EV has been engineered for real-world needs: effortless acceleration, smooth performance and a comfortable, reassuring drive in busy urban environments.

Electric Where It Matters Most

The XUV 3XO EV builds on everything customers loved in the higher ICE variants and adds a stronger, more refined electric drivetrain. It is powered by a 39.4 kWh battery that delivers up to 110 kW and 310 Nm of instant torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.3 seconds. The EV offers a driving range of up to 285 km and supports fast charging, going from 0 to 80% in 50 minutes using a 50 kW DC charger. An optional 7.2 kW wall charger available for home installation. Ride comfort is enhanced through Frequency Dependent Damping and MTV-CL suspension, while the compact 10.6-metre turning circle makes city manoeuvring easy and stress-free.

The EV also inherits premium features found in the AX5 and AX7L ICE variants of XUV 3XO: electronic parking brake, panoramic Skyroof, dual-zone climate control, six airbags, Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos, Adrenox connected car tech, Level-2 ADAS and a full 360-degree camera system.

Two Variants Built for Two Kinds of Buyers

Mahindra has offered the XUV 3XO EV in two variants to match different priorities:

  • AX5 – ₹13.89 lakh
A well-equipped variant with LED projector lamps, twin 10.25-inch displays, six airbags, cruise control, wireless smartphone connectivity and dual-zone climate control.
  • AX7L – ₹14.96 lakh
Made for those who want everything—Skyroof, leatherette interiors, ADAS Level – 2, 360-degree camera, front parking assist, Harman Kardon premium audio, and larger R17 alloy wheels.
    A Model Born from Listening
As Mr. Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra, explained to this publication, the decision to launch the EV came directly from customer feedback. “The 3XO range was already rich in features, but customers clearly asked for more powertrain choices, especially electric. The XUV 3XO EV keeps everything they loved, and adds the benefits of an EV.”
“With the new electric powertrain, the 3XO lineup becomes more flexible than ever. Customers can now choose petrol, diesel or electric—each aligned to their driving habits and lifestyle,” he pointed out.
The XUV 3XO EV is more than just a new variant. It is the next step in Mahindra’s evolving idea of everyday electric mobility—refined, practical, powerful and built around what Indian customers actually want.
