The award was presented during ‘India First Tech Startup Conclave & Awards 2022’
Tadpole Projects, a pioneer in retrofitting ICE vehicles, has won the Best E-Mobility Startup Award at the India First Tech Startup Conclave & Awards 2022. Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd) and Former LG Puducherry gave the award to Tadpole Projects for being an innovator in the EV space. The win is attributed to the company’s significant contribution to the building process as an innovator in the existing EV ecosystem and revolutionizing how EVs are viewed. Tadpole Projects has successfully opened up an avenue of new-age retrofitted EV cars, solving the scrapping policy inadequacies, with a vision to provide clean energy solutions to make India cleaner, greener and better.
On receiving this prestigious award Mr. Jawaad Khan, Founder-Tadpole Projects said, “We are delighted to receive this prestigious award. It underlines our vision to make India a leader in the EV ecosystem by introducing affordable clean energy conveyance solutions to the masses focusing on two crucial factors: waste management and power efficiency. The simple idea is to create EVs without adding new vehicles on the roads, and retrofitting here is the best alternative we can bet on.”
EVs have come a long way in India in the last few years with accelerated adoption by the Indian masses. Although the idea of converting the existing ICE vehicles into EVs has gained massive traction among the Indian consumers, it will still take numerous years to make this transition. This is where Tadpole Projects comes into the picture, leading the EV wave by retrofitting all categories of vehicles to electric. The company has recently converted a Mercedes-Benz C-Class into an EV and equipped it with new-age mobility features like GPS, geo-fencing, and remote performance assessment.
Since its inception, Tadpole Projects has retrofitted vintage cars, including the Volkswagen Beetle (1948) and an Austin 10 (1936), and ubiquitous modern four-wheelers like the Maruti Swift DZire and Honda City. The R&D and advanced testing of these vehicles is currently led by renowned institutions like IIT Delhi, FITT, and the Centre of Automotive Research and Tribology (CART). Going forward, Tadpole Projects plans to foray into other categories like buses, cranes, earth-moving and other construction equipment in the coming years. Launched in August 2020, Tadpole Projects is the pioneer in retrofitting ICE cars and aims to address issues around fossil-fuel-based vehicles, scrapping policy, and expensive vehicles by retrofitting, thus making renewable mobility accessible to everyone. Headquartered in Delhi, Tadpole Projects performs R&D and advanced testing of vehicles incubated under IIT Delhi.
The company also has a subsidiary brand called Trouve Motors, under which it plans to launch a new range of bikes and cars.
