The BEV version of the SpaceTourer family MPV will hit showrooms at the end of this year in Europe.
French car maker Citroen is stepping up the ante in the EV space with the introduction of e-SpaceTourer – the pure-electric version of its popular passenger MPV SpaceTourer. This is the brand’s fourth electric vehicle on a row this year, the others being C5 Aircross Hybrid SUV, Ami and e-Jumpy. Notably, the e-SpaceTourer passenger MPV is yet another iteration of the Citroen e-Jumpy electric cargo van launched in May this year.
Built on Groupe PSA’s ‘EMP2 multi-energy’ platform, the battery pack is neatly integrated into the chassis floor, which means the s-SpaceTourer offers similar cabin and luggage space as it diesel-powered sibling. The electric MPV is offered with two range options depending on the size of the battery pack – a 50 kWh system that gives a driving range of 230 km or a larger 75 kWh pack with a driving range of 330 kms (all in WLTP approval cycle). The electric motor with an output of 100 kW is standard for both the options. Citroen assures the buyers with 8 years or 160,000 km for 70% of he battery’s charging capacity (with a capacity certificate at each overhaul).
The electric MPV comes two types of on-board chargers – a single-phase 7.4 kW charger as standard and a three-phase 11 kW charger as optional. This supports domestic charging with a standard 8A or 16A socket, rapid charging with Wallbox rapid-charging box, and super-fast charging at public terminals. It vehicle supports ‘My Citroën’ app that allows users to programme delayed charging that can be scheduled beforehand.
Citroen says that the e-SpaceTourer is a tailored solution for professionals, communities, associations and groups of family or friends, who want comfortable, responsible and economical driving. Groupe PSA’s other iterations of this electric passenger van includes Peugeot e-Traveller and Opel Zafira Life, which are scheduled for market launched at the land of this year and early next year respectively.
