Commenting on the achievement, Mr. Anant Nahata, MD & CEO, Exicom Group said “We are immensely proud to achieve the first of our many milestones in such a short span of time. Deployment of 5000 EV chargers across the country, is just a stepping stone towards achieving the bigger vision of supporting charging network for EVs in India with products that are future proof, reliable and are industry leading in terms of performance. We are committed to invest in R&D to support innovation and maintain our technology leadership and provide charging options to all types of drivers including those in low income communities.

Exicom currently manufactures its chargers at its state-of-the-art facility in Gurgaon, Haryana, and plans to set up a new greenfield manufacturing facility in 2022-23 to multiply its manufacturing capacity by 3X in order to serve the fast growing Indian market and export opportunities as well. Exicom has already begun supplying EV chargers in South East Asia. It provided DC fast Charging Equipment for Malaysia’s first multi-fuel filling station in Sarawak region providing gasoline, hydrogen and electricity refueling options. The company expects to ship more than 20,000 EV chargers to its customers in FY23.

For February 2022, the country saw electric passenger vehicles sales grow 296 per cent to 2,352 units, according to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) report. Apart from the high petrol prices, EV sales have also been affected due to increasing government sops, growing awareness in urban locations over the past few months. To support the growing population of EVs, the Government too is taking all necessary steps to step up the supporting infrastructure. Between October 2021 and January 2022, the nine mega-cities – those with a population of more than 4 million – Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and Surat, got 940 public EV chargers installed out of the country’s 1,640 total.
