Formula Bharat is an Indian Formula Student-style engineering design competition in which students from colleges and universities all over the country compete with a life-size formula-style vehicle in areas of engineering design, overall cost, marketability, and dynamic performance. The series replicates the global student Formula series hosted in around 11 countries per year.
Originally launched in 2017, Formula Bharat originally began with teams participating in the combustion vehicle category. In 2018, the competition launched the first electric vehicle concept challenge to ease students into the process of designing an electric vehicle. In 2019, the electric vehicle category was launched, and the event saw a winner with Team Kratos Racing Electric from PCCOE, Pune.
After a two-year hiatus owing to the pandemic, the Formula Bharat 2022 competition shall be returning to the Kari Motor Speedway from January 21 thru 25. The event will be attended by 28 engineering student teams from all over India, who clearly beat the odds under Covid norms. Fifteen of these teams shall be participating in the combustion category, and the remaining in the electric category.
Despite the challenge posed by new restrictions, participants are excited to be back on track. Formula Bharat is a platform for students to apply hands-on practical engineering skills. As the event’s motto goes – from the classroom to the race track. Through the experience these students gain from design and manufacturing their vehicle, participative team work and fundraising for their project, students build all-rounding skills that set them apart from their peers. Their talent is much sought after by industry representatives in the mobility sector.
Formula Bharat 2022 is sponsored by MathWorks, Zuken India, Ather Energy, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Private Limited (RBEI), Micelio Mobility, and Fabheads Automation.
