Indofast Energy, India’s largest battery-swapping network, has partnered with Green Tiger Mobility, a leading two-wheeler (2W) retrofit solutions provider, to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in India. The collaboration aims to offer an affordable and practical retrofit solution for the country’s 300 million+ petrol-powered two-wheelers.
Through this initiative, existing petrol scooters can be retrofitted with Green Tiger Mobility’s ARAI-approved electric conversion kits. Once converted, users gain access to Indofast Energy’s extensive battery-swapping network, addressing key challenges such as range anxiety and long charging times.
The conversion package includes RTO approvals, insurance, and other regulatory requirements—streamlined into a single, fixed-cost offering. Customers can initiate the retrofit with a nominal down payment, with the remaining cost spread across manageable EMIs. These installments can effectively be covered by the fuel savings from switching to electric, making the conversion financially viable for a broad customer base.
Currently, the retrofit solution is available for 11 of the top-selling scooter models in India, including: Hero (Maestro, Pleasure), Honda (Activa, Aviator, Dio, Cliq), Suzuki (Access, Swish), TVS (Jupiter, Wego) and Yamaha (Fascino).
The service is already live in Bangalore and will be launched in the Delhi NCR region by May. A pan-India rollout is planned over the next 12 to 15 months. The initial focus is on quick-commerce delivery executives, with a phased expansion to the mass market.
Green Tiger Mobility has already served over 500 customers in Bangalore. Its entire product line is ARAI-approved and registered with leading RTOs. The company holds six approved patents and receives backing from esteemed institutions including ARAI, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), IIM Bangalore, BITS Pilani, and Bajaj Motors.
Indofast Energy, a 50:50 joint venture between IndianOil and SUN Mobility, operates more than 900 battery swap stations across India. Its infrastructure supports a range of electric vehicles, including e-autos, e-bikes, and e-scooters, ensuring uninterrupted mobility for both commercial and personal users.
By integrating Green Tiger’s retrofit technology with Indofast Energy’s robust swapping ecosystem, the partnership aims to make electric mobility accessible, scalable, and sustainable for millions across the country.
Rajat Malhan, Senior Vice President, Indofast Energy, said: “Imagine your trusted petrol scooter reborn as a sleek, battery-swappable EV—no need to purchase a new vehicle, just a smart upgrade. This partnership is a key milestone in our mission to drive green mobility, reduce fuel costs, and help meet India’s EV adoption targets. We believe this will create a meaningful impact, especially for millions of gig economy workers.”
Ashish Dokania, Founder, Green Tiger Mobility, added: “At Green Tiger, we believe the future of mobility isn’t only about new EVs, but also about transforming the petrol two-wheelers already on our roads. Our retrofit solution, powered by Indofast’s battery-swapping network, offers a practical and sustainable path forward—allowing people to embrace electric mobility without giving up their trusted rides.”
