Solutions across Segments
At the Lucas TVS pavilion here, we are showcasing solutions for electric vehicles ranging from e-cycle to e-cargo vehicles. For e-cycle, we have a product with rated power of 250 W and rated voltage of 36 volts, which is apt for a speed limitation of 20-25 km per hour. Our BLDC hub motor is a next-generation e-bike drive system. It offers optimal user-oriented performance thanks to its extremely smart in-wheel hub motor design. This not only makes the system more simplified, but it also makes it substantially lighter. As a result, the Lucas TVS e-bike solution is ideal for sports and pleasure as well as daily transportation.
Electric Two-Wheelers
For two-wheelers we have two motor solutions: one is the mid-mount motor with PMS technology (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) and another is In-wheel / Hub motor with BLDC technology. PMSM is ideal for High performance Motorcycles and Scooters which operate at both high speed as well as high torque requirements. Lucas TVS offers 3-8 kW power using PMSM technology and upto 4 kW using BLDC technology, across wide voltage systems of 48V – 72V. We have tested our products in all driving conditions and weather conditions. We combine the needs of each customer to shape the future of electric vehicles with a high-performance powertrain solution for two-wheelers.\
Electric Three-Wheelers
For L3 category e-rickshaws, we are offering 1-1.5 kW rated and 2 kW for peak BLDC Motor and Controller. For L5 category e-autos, we have a rated power of 3-5 kW for passenger version. It goes beyond 5 kW for cargo versions. Both e-rickshaws and e-loaders are low-speed vehicles that enable India’s last mile commercial transportation. Hence, we have created extremely efficient motors and controllers while keeping an eye on Indian monsoon conditions and commercial affordability of e-rickshaw owners. These low-speed three-wheelers use Li ion battery for energy. The mantra for Lucas TVS is quality and service. It is visible in all the work we do and on the shop floor.
Over 300 engineers work in different domains and serve different value streams, rigorously follow the five-stage /gate product development process, design reviews clubbed with design and process FMEAs, design for manufacture etc at our state-of-the-art research and development facilities in Chennai and Puducherry. Lucas TVS has 22 patents and a few more that are being reviewed.
There are 3 separate production lines catering to BLDC motor, hub motor and PMSM motors and all the lines are operational. These lines have a capacity to produce half a million motors per annum. The market has been receptive of our solutions across all the segments and despite the supply chain constraints and commodity price hike, we have managed to satisfy our customers.
