Bangalore-based EV start-up Simple Energy is set to launch its first flagship e-scooter on 15th August 2021. Code-named Mark2, the electric scooter will be one of the longest range e-scooters in the Indian market.
While the prototype version Mark1 was ready last year, the startup has now developed the production variant which is based on the prototype. As per the product specs revealed, the Mark 2 will have a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, a claimed range of 240 km in eco mode, top speed of 100kmph, and 0-50 kilometers per hour acceleration in 3.6 seconds. Other key features a mid-drive motor along with a removable battery and futuristic design. It also comes with smart features like a touch screen, on-board navigation, Bluetooth, etc The e-scooter will be priced from Rs1,10,000 to Rs.1,20,000.
The launch city will be Bangalore, where the R&D center is located and the first factory is also being set up. Following Bangalore launch in the first phase will be other South Indian cities namely Chennai and Hyderabad. The company plans to eventually expand the presence to other cities in the days to come.

Simple Energy is looking to raise Series A funding of $15 mn in the third quarter of this year and has released the vehicle testing images. The startup is also looking to deploy charging stations in Bangalore prior to the launch.
