The 25-ton ZTC250N-EV battery-electric truck crane brings down energy costs by 35 percent as against conventional truck cranes in the same class, claims the Chinese manufacturer.
In a bid to push the heavy equipment industry towards emission reduction and sustainability, China-based Zoomlion has developed the world’s first ever zero-emission truck crane. The 25-ton class ZTC250N-EV rolled off the company’s assembly line at its Quantang Industrial Park in Changsha in China early this month.
The electric truck crane is looks no different from its diesel counterparts. Zoomlion claims that strikes a right balance in dynamic performance and frugality, while also being environment-friendly than other machines in its class. It can can reach to a top speed of 90 kmph and features 50 percent gradeability. The truck crane boasts a driving range of 260 km (160 miles), which adequate meets the requirements of most of the operators, the company claims.
Further, the crane is equipped with standard charging plugs and industrial sockets that are commonly used in construction sites. That way, the machine is user-friendly in terms of charging and doesn’t compromise in practicality and performance. There is an intelligent control system that allows precise control for the vehicle, while the sound of the crane while driving or in operation does not exceed 65 dB.
Says Mr. Wang Qitao, Technical Director of Engineering Cranes Branch – Zoomlion, “We have partnered with the world’s leading suppliers for green energy parts and tailored to the usage scenarios and working conditions of truck cranes. We equipped the truck crane with high energy storage density LFP battery, which is the safest in the world”. The bodywork and chassis applied a ZIC intelligent collaborative control strategy, which perfectly combines the TCEMS high-efficiency energy management system and a BMS battery management system, he added.
He further claims that Zoomlion had set up a specialized team in 2018, consisting of staff from research, engineering, manufacturing and quality control departments, and completed the production of the truck crane within two years. The product is in line with the company’s philosophy of sustainable development for energy saving and emission reduction, he notes.
