BYPL-EV Motors set up first ‘Plug N Go’ smart EV charging station in East Delhi

Charging & Storage

Commissioned at Patparganj, I P Extension in East Delhi, the smart charging station aims to offer seamless digital experience using smart phone app and online payment.

In line with the commitment towards building a robust electric mobility eco-system, BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) and EV Motors India Pvt. Ltd. (EVM) have partnered to set-up smart charging stations in Delhi. As part of this endeavour, the first smart public charging station under this partnership was inaugurated on 18th July at Patparganj by Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia, in the presence of senior officials of BYPL and EV Motors.

The smart EV charging station, branded as ‘Plug N Go’, is enabled with state-of-the-art central management system (CMS). This will help to oversee operations of the EV charger and provide on-site and on-demand customer support. It will also provide information on preventive maintenance as and when required. Depending on the make, an e-vehicle can be fully charged between 45 and 90 minutes. The charging stations under ‘Plug N Go’ in Delhi are expected to cater to the charging requirements of 15 to 18 cars per day.

The newly launched charging station will be equipped with two types of chargers – DC 50 kW with three guns which can charge Hyundai Kona, MG ZS EV and Tata Nexon, and a DC 30 kW with 2 Guns (Both GB/T) that can charge Mahindra e-Verito and Tata Tigor. Two electric vehicles can be charged simultaneously from each charger.

“BYPL is gearing up to play a major role in the emerging EV sector. This is a very exciting moment for us and we are working closely with our strategic partners to set up many more charging stations. This partnership with EV Motors India is a testimonial to these efforts. Through this association, we at BYPL aim to reiterate our commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable growth. We plan to install more such smart public EV charging stations in the months ahead”

The EV charger at the outlet is integrated to the ‘Plug N Go’ mobile application that enables end consumers to locate and operate chargers. It is available on both Android and iOS platforms that entail QR-code based payment option right from the mobile app, ‘Locate Charger’ feature, info on location, type of connector, and slot availability, remote start/ stop operation, charging and payment history tracking and so on.

“We are delighted to partner with BYPL to launch our first jointly managed EV charging infrastructure. Mobility is going through a global transformation as we build solutions to improve air quality, make clean energy more accessible and reduce fossil fuel dependence. Through this association, we look forward to transforming the mobility landscape in the capital, thereby accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles”
