Eicher Trucks & Buses, a business unit of VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Government of India, under the Scheme for Support to NCRPB for Replacement of Old Trucks and Buses in the Delhi-NCR area. The partnership aims to accelerate the replacement of older, polluting commercial vehicles with cleaner BS-VI and electric vehicles, supporting the Government’s efforts to improve air quality across the National Capital Region (NCR).

The scheme is designed to facilitate the phased replacement of BS-IV and older trucks and buses operating in Delhi-NCR through a comprehensive package of incentives offered by the Central Government, participating State Governments and OEMs. Under the MoU, Eicher Trucks & Buses will extend benefits to eligible customers, including an 8% discount on the ex-showroom price of eligible vehicles purchased under the scheme.

The initiative will enable Eicher Trucks & Buses customers to modernize their fleets by replacing older vehicles with cleaner and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Eligible beneficiaries will also be able to avail additional incentives under the scheme, including support on motor vehicle tax, registration fees, interest subvention and fuel benefits, subject to the applicable eligibility criteria.

Commenting on the development, Mr. S.S. Gill, Chief Commercial Officer, VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd., said, “For over four decades, Eicher Trucks & Buses customers have driven modernization in the Indian commercial vehicle industry. Continuing this legacy, Eicher Trucks & Buses is pleased to join hands with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in implementing this path-breaking policy to replace old and polluting vehicles in the NCR region. Eicher customers will benefit from the substantial incentives offered by the Government of India and the State Governments of Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan under this programme.”

The scheme covers eligible commercial vehicle owners across the Delhi-NCR region and will be implemented through a centralized digital platform integrated with MoRTH’s VAHAN database and the vehicle scrapping ecosystem, enabling seamless verification of eligibility and processing of benefits.
