Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-Maybach S 580e, the first electrified Mercedes-Maybach in the country. The plug-in hybrid limousine combines quiet electric driving with the long-distance flexibility of a petrol engine.
The S 580e is powered by a six-cylinder plug-in hybrid with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, producing 585 hp and 750 Nm, paired with a 9G-TRONIC transmission. It offers a WLTP electric range of up to 98 km, which the company says can mean around 100 km in real-world driving, and it can reach 140 km/h on electric power alone. Drivers can choose from Maybach, Electric and Battery Hold modes, along with adjustable energy recovery and one-pedal driving.
Charging is supported at up to 11 kW AC and 60 kW DC, and every car comes with a free home charging solution. Owners also get access to public chargers through MB.CHARGE.
The India-spec model comes only in a four-seat First Class rear configuration, with individual executive seats and a full-length centre console. A Burmester 4D surround sound system with 31 speakers and 1,610 watts of output adds to the cabin experience. Inside, MANUFAKTUR craftsmanship brings Maybach Exclusive Nappa leather, piano lacquer trim and a handcrafted leather roof liner.
The car runs on the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which brings a cloud-based AIRMATIC air suspension that uses navigation data to prepare for the road ahead. Rear-axle steering of up to 10 degrees makes the large limousine easier to turn and steadier at speed.
Safety features include 15 airbags, PRE-SAFE protection systems and GUARD 360° vehicle security. DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps with Adaptive High Beam Assist Plus come as standard, along with an illuminated Maybach grille and logo projection.
