TATA.ev, India’s number one EV four-wheeler maker, today announced the extension of its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) offering across its entire electric vehicle portfolio. The move gives customers an additional, flexible way to finance their EV.
TATA.ev had earlier introduced BaaS for its entry-level Tiago.ev and Punch.ev. It is now extending the offering to the Nexon.ev, Curvv.ev, Sierra.ev, and Harrier.ev, making it available across the whole range.
Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Chief Commercial Officer, said that as EV acceptance and demand grow many-fold, customers want more choice, not just in the EVs they buy but also in how they finance them. He said that as BaaS becomes an increasingly visible option in the EV market, the company wants customers evaluating a TATA.ev to be able to make a fair and transparent comparison. Customers can still buy their EV outright, including the battery, or opt for BaaS and lower their upfront cost. He added that the aim is simple: give customers the freedom to choose what works best for them and make the switch to electric easier.
Under BaaS, the cost of the battery is separated from the upfront vehicle price and financed on its own, which lowers the initial cost of buying an EV. The vehicle and the battery are financed through separate loan accounts with flexible tenures. The battery EMI varies with battery size, down payment, and tenure, and it excludes charging, maintenance, repairs, and other costs. TATA.ev has partnered with multiple financiers to give customers more choice. Customers who opt for BaaS get the same product experience, technology, and ownership support.
The Tiago.ev, with a 19 kWh battery, starts at ₹6.99 lakh, or ₹4.69 lakh under BaaS, with a battery cost of ₹2.6 per km. The Punch.ev, with a 30 kWh battery, starts at ₹9.79 lakh, or ₹6.59 lakh under BaaS, also at ₹2.6 per km. The Nexon.ev, with a 45 kWh battery, starts at ₹14.34 lakh, or ₹8.99 lakh under BaaS, at ₹4.4 per km.
The Curvv.ev, with a 55 kWh battery, starts at ₹17.19 lakh, or ₹10.99 lakh under BaaS, at ₹5 per km. The Sierra.ev, with a 63 kWh battery, starts at ₹18.79 lakh, or ₹11.99 lakh under BaaS, at ₹5.5 per km. The Harrier.ev, with a 65 kWh battery, starts at ₹21.79 lakh, or ₹14.49 lakh under BaaS, at ₹5.9 per km.
